We’re deeply saddened to inform you of the untimely death of Charlie Baumgardner, who was a beloved Gonzaga coach, dad and volunteer.  He was an irreplaceable presence — as a mentor to his fellow coaches, a treasured friend to fellow parents, and most importantly a constant father-figure to the boys.

Charlie passed away this past Sunday while on vacation with his family in Boulder, Colorado. His full obituary can be found here.

He is survived by his loving wife, Marie Duellman, and his children: Amelia Gordon, Kathryn Baumgardner, and Eric Baumgardner (Gonzaga Class of 2012).

During Eric’s time on Eye Street and beyond, Charlie was an active member of the Gonzaga community, continuing his service after Eric’s graduation as a junior varsity football coach, a member of the Father’s Club, and of Eagles’ Wings (the parent alumni group that Marie now leads). He will be deeply missed.

The funeral Mass was held at St. Aloysius on Thursday, June 15th, at 10:30am.

May He Rest in Peace
